When you are on holiday or even on a business trip it’s easy to get distracted and forget about your financial security. According to Adam Levin, co-founder and chairman of Identity Theft 911, when away people tend to be more lax with protecting themselves from thieves.
When you go abroad it’s important to plan for the worst and do what you can to keep your finances safe and secure. Here are some tips on how to do so:
- Get someone to collect your mail because piled letters are an invitation to thieves.
- Empty your wallet of all the things that you don’t need and hide them in your home.
- Make copies of your important documents in case you lose them whilst abroad.
- Take the contact details of your banks with you on your trip.
- Use the hotel safe because even if your room looks secure there are countless people with keys.
