Payment systems like the Google Wallet and smartphones with Near Field Communication are fast becoming a reality, but a few companies are taking the first steps towards allowing you to pay with your face.
Uniqul is a Finnish start-up that has set its sights on technology that could potentially change the way that we interact in stores and online. The company aims to become the first to offer a facial recognition payment system.
There are certainly questions about whether shops will be willing to invest in what will surely be highly expensive facial recognition technology, and privacy concerns will arise when Uniqul begins to build a database.
On the other hand, the technology could potentially mean that you no longer need to carry a wallet or a phone with you to make any kind of payment. The technology is far away, but it could well be the payment system of the future.
